Health, Harmony, Way
Mandala Aikido was founded in 2006 by 5 people who love Aikido yet had no place to practice together. Weary of practicing in Sensei's basement they all chipped in and created Mandala Aikido. The school is set up as a non-profit organization as no member gets paid for any of their services. Everyone is a volunteer including our Sensei.
We are affiliated with Aikido de la Montagne located in downtown Montreal where our Sensei's Sensei, Shihan Claude Berthiaume teaches. As member of the USAF Technical Comittee, Sensei Berthiaume is the one who does the kyu and dan examinations. Many of our members also take the opportunity to go train occasionally with the students of his dojo.
We are also officially accredited by the United States Aikido Federation.
Our Mission Statement is based on our passion!
Who are the members?
The membership is made up of people from all walk of life, Young and old, male and female. Some have experience, some are beginners. Our common interest is our passion for aikido. Unfortunately we must limit our classes to students 16 years or older.
Why are we so passionate?
As you become a part of this aikido family, your enthusiasm for the style and philosophy of aikido grows, and you begin to understand more of it the longer you practice it. It is very addicting once you “get it”.

Our Mission Statement is based on our passion!
- Health: We practice Aikido to develop healthy attitudes, lifestyles and physical fitness through the practice and learning of aikido.
- Unity: We learn self discipline and self control through the practice of aikido.
- Fun: We view aikido as a fun activity through which we relax and enjoy our practice without the consideration of it being a workout.
- Peace: With aikido we learn to overcome conflict without violence. Aikido’s basic principle is to meet confrontation without force and harm.
