Our Sensei
Martin Wise (4th Dan, Aikikai)
Sensei Martin Wise began martial arts in 1971 training in Shaolin Kempo until 1979. He was introduced to aikido in 1980 at Aikido Kensankai. He earned his Shodan in 1993 at Aikido de la Montagne and continued to practice there with Claude Berthiaume as his chief instructor. He left there in in 1998, and was invited to teach at another school in the West Island where he taught until autumn 2006. He was approached by some of his former students to open a school of their own.
In January of 2007 they opened Mandala Aikido where he is now chief instructor. Sensei Wise earned his 2nd dan (nidan) in 2010, his 3rd dan (sandan) in 2014 and his 4th dan in 2022. His teaching style is friendly, but always maintaining high standards of etiquette and decorum.
